Downtown Vision Plan The proposed DRAFT of the Mebane Downtown Vision Plan is available for download here! The public will have the month of November 2018 to review the Plan and return comments to the City of Mebane Planning Department. Comments can be provided on this website, by e-mailing, and/or on the City's official Facebook page. The Mebane Planning Board will review the Downtown Vision Plan at its Wednesday, November 14, meeting; the City Council will review it at a public hearing during their Monday, December 3, meeting. The City is engaged in a small area plan for its historic Downtown District in order to determine what structural and non- structural investments can best serve its needs as Mebane continues to grow and prosper. The City contracted with Rivers and Associates deliver the plan, which is partly supported by a NC Department of Commerce grant. The NC Main Street program is also providing Mebane with technical assistance. The project is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2018. All project details and materials can be found at

The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for the maintenance and enforcement of the Unified Development Ordinance. The Department is also responsible for all long range planning, such as the Land Use Plan and Strategic Plan, as well as current planning issues such as rezoning, special use permits, commercial site plan review, and subdivision plats. The Planning Officer serves as staff to the Planning Board, which is an advisory Board to the City Council. All re-zonings, special use permits, and major subdivision plats are subject to approval by the City Council.
